Miura Kite flies over to Cineflix

Cineflix has tapped former Playtone development exec Miura Kite to spearhead its scripted division, Cineflix Studios, in Los Angeles. Kite, who has worked on series including "The Pacific" and "Big Love," will begin work at the "Copper" shingle starting Nov. 7. She'll report to Cineflix Studios prexy Christina Wayne. "Playtone's been a wonderful home for me for a while, but I'm really excited about what Cineflix is doing," Kite told Variety. "I think they're really interested in innovative, sophisticated material. It's really what grownups are seeking out these days. I'd admired Christina for a long time, and we'd talked over the years about material for a lot, and we really have similar tastes in material. I wasn't job-hunting, but she sought me out." Kite said she'll be canvassing the creative landscape for books, articles and pitches. Cineflix has been growing; recent hires include BBC Worldwide vet Vlad Wolynetz to head production, Lisa Levenson, who launched the company's L.A. offices, and Warner Bros. International TV Production exec Chris Bonney, who oversees international rights. Contact Sam Thielman at sam.thielman@variety.com
